In 2019, Umbrellas over Rain Day was July 20th through July 29, the Greene County Courthouse sidewalk was be transformed by multitudes of umbrellas into a colorful art experience: Umbrellas Over Rain Day. Similar art displays have been exhibited in only half a dozen cities around the world: Lisbon, Paris, San Juan, Pittsburgh, Pensacola and Coral Gables.
Joe Walsh, Production Coordinator for Hughie’s Event Production Services is creating Umbrellas Over Rain Day. Joe said “We are so excited to be able to make the umbrella sky concept possible. The creativity this kind of project allows is not only challenging, but it’s fun. You don’t often get a chance to paint the sky with color.”
Mayor Brian Tanner said the 2019 Rain Day festival promises to be the most ambitious to date. The committee has taken new ideas to expand the event and made them reality. Mayor Tanner said “I’m really excited about the Umbrellas Over Rain Day Sky Project. Umbrellas are so appropriate for our festival.”
